Tarique Plummer
Tarique Plummer is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Waterloo Region office.
Tarique is currently a student at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University. His educational background includes a bachelor of science in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, an MBA in Marketing & Finance, and a diploma in Canadian Immigration Law.
Throughout his time in school, Tarique has gained invaluable experience across various sectors, such as politics, tech sales, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and business development. He has served as a chief of staff and political consultant in provincial and municipal elections, a technical project manager, a business professor at a college in Toronto, and the president & CEO of a students' union. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own consulting and tech companies, further honing his leadership abilities.
Tarique's dedication to academic excellence has earned him numerous accolades, including a place on the Dean's List, Best Thesis Presentation, and the prestigious WLU Centennial Scholarship. His commitment to community service is demonstrated by his involvement on the Adventure4Change Board and the Region of Waterloo Environmental and Ecological Committee. Tarique's passion for making a difference has been recognized through the Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Award of Recognition and the Wilfrid Laurier University Young Alumnus of 2022.
His aspiration to become a lawyer stems from his desire to leverage his unique skillset and experiences to guide clients through complex legal challenges that impact countless lives. Tarique's multidisciplinary background allows him to approach legal matters with a fresh perspective, and he is eager to explore areas of law that align with his diverse interests.
