Valérie Blandeau is a partner in the firm's Paris office, specialising in employment law, and advising French and non-French clients to navigate a very complex and evolving legal frame work.
She has extensive experience of the legislation surrounding working time and restructuring. She provides pragmatic data analysis for her clients, notably to optimise costs and predict budgets where there are issues regarding variable remuneration, social security charges, mass redundancies or negotiated departures.
Having led the firm's employment team in Paris since April 2011, Valerie works with both French and international clients on issues of employment law across a range of business sectors including: telecommunications, retail, recycling, tech and the pharmaceutical industry.
Fluent in English, Valérie regularly writes for the legal press and is the author of various publications on working time. She also regularly participates in seminars and conferences and organises training for clients, both in France and abroad.
Introduced in 2000, the 35 hours law continues to have a great impact in France. Valérie was heavily involved in the implementation of several agreements around the reduction of working time. Following a lot of research into the innovative and complex subject, Valérie's interest, ability to deal with figures and technical skills led her to co-write a book on the topic: 35 hours in figures and letters.
Valérie was involved in an urgent termination matter for an American fund. The client was a prestigious American and they wanted to understand all the implications of this termination.
As the matter had to be resolved urgently, Valérie was asked to fly to New York to attend the fund board meeting to explain to all the board members the risks and related costs of the termination. She also had to help them validate the termination allowance to be given. That was a challenging and fast-moving project, as Valérie only had one day to prepare for both the meeting and the trip.
Regularly advising one of the world's largest software companies providing security, storage and systems management solutions on its employment law issues in France.
