Vanessa Carroll

Vanessa Carroll is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy Group. She focuses on health law and medical defence, including acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Vanessa practised health law and medical defence in Newfoundland and Labrador. Vanessa has a wide range of experience within health care, including professional liability, civil litigation, administrative processes, and privacy.

During law school, Vanessa focused on developing her advocacy skills and received numerous awards in national advocacy competitions. She held various research assistant positions and was an executive for several societies. While studying abroad in Ireland, she completed Master of Laws courses in international law and online regulation.

Vanessa volunteers with local organizations that assist those in need. Previously, she was a co-coordinator of a Pro Bono Students Canada campaign and a coach of Memorial University's Mooting Team. Over the last number of years, Vanessa has organized activist campaigns and fundraisers throughout Canada.
