Vanessa Lessard

Vanessa Lessard is a law clerk in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the advocacy department.

Since joining the firm in 2012, Vanessa has specialized in the area of administrative law and Indigenous law with a focus on the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. Vanessa is currently responsible for the maintenance of the database of class members regarding the Indian Day School class-action, as well as maintaining the firm's lobbying practice.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Vanessa graduated from the Law Clerk program at La Cité collégiale with honours and worked for two years as a student for the Canada Revenue Agency. Prior to that position, Vanessa was a receptionist for three years at a law firm.

She has extensive knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedures, Federal Court Rules and Supreme Court of Canada Act and Rules, as well as broad knowledge of the lobbying rules across Canada, including municipalities and provinces.
