Vithooshan Vijayakumaran

Vithooshan Vijayakumaran is an associate in the Calgary office of Gowling WLG, practising in the area of intellectual property.  His practice focusses on the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cleantech, chemical and oil & gas sectors.

Vithooshan completed his B.Sc. at McMaster University and his M.Sc. in microbiology and immunology at the University of Western Ontario.  While earning his undergraduate degree, Vithooshan completed a research internship at Public Health Ontario through the University of Toronto’s Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology program where he assisted in developing a diagnostic method for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.  His master’s thesis examined the role of Staphylococcal lipases in relation to the virulence and growth of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Vithooshan completed his articles at a national intellectual property boutique firm.
