Wasim Mohammed

Wasim Mohammed is Birmingham-based senior associate in the firm's Housing Development and Regeneration team.

Wasim acts for national house builders as well as registered providers on a range of residential development and strategic land matters. Wasim has particular expertise in social housing development work having acted for registered providers on site acquisitions and plot acquisitions from house builders for a number of years.

Wasim's availability and proactive approach ensures that he is able to help clients achieve their commercial objectives. He always has one eye on future saleability and refinance, and maximising and realising the value of property assets where possible having acted for many lenders (including Islamic banks and bridging finance companies) in the past.


  • Acting for a registered provider on the conditional acquisition of 120 units in Bedfordshire on a golden brick basis from a national house builder for consideration of circa £16million. The conditionality centred on planning and the variation of a planning agreement to include an acceptable mortgagee exclusion clause for purposes of MV-STT value.
  • Acting for a developer in relation to a hybrid promotion-joint venture agreement which involved the promotion of a site in Warwickshire for residential development including build obligations, managing a marketing and sales strategy on behalf of the landowner and the distribution of sale proceeds as part of a profit share arrangement.
  • Acting for a local authority in its acquisition of vacant residential properties in Derbyshire as part of a large housing regeneration scheme pursuant to a PFI Agreement.
  • Acting for a charitable trust on the multi-million pound acquisition and development of a site in Wiltshire to be used as a retirement village.
