We handle a broad range of domestic and international work seeing all kinds of commercial disputes. Some of our recent or current cases have included: 

  • Trusts litigation

    Defending claims against two corporate trustees, which arose out of the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, bringing to an end 11 years of litigation with an $860 million global settlement.

  • Contractual claims

    Acting for Indian investors in defending a contractual claim for over US$51 million from Formula One World Championship Limited arising out of the hosting of the Indian Grand Prix.

  • Shareholder action

    Acting for the majority shareholder of a national lighting and technology company in respect of a s995 minority shareholder action in the Companies Court.

  • Fraudulent Ponzi scheme

    Advising the joint liquidators of Stanford International Bank following the collapse of a fraudulent Ponzi scheme empire. This included assisting with a dispute between the liquidators and the US Department of Justice in connection with the bank's UK assets.

  • Fraudulent misrepresentation

    Successfully defending Chris and Nick Candy in the long-running dispute with Mark Holyoake and his corporate co-claimant Hotblack Holdings. Claims included fraudulent misrepresentation, unlawful means conspiracy, duress, blackmail and intimidation.

  • Group litigation order

    Advising Amec Foster Wheeler plc and other Amec group companies in multiple sets of proceedings subject to a group litigation order. The disputes related to an organisation known as 'The Consulting Association', which was alleged to have blackmailed thousands of construction workers between 1970 and 2009.
