Digital forces driving the new protectionist agenda

Protectionism is on the rise, we know this after conducting a study which shows top economies around the world have increased restrictive trade measures by more than 7,000 since 2009.

Protectionism can have an impact on any company that wishes to trade internationally - in a positive or negative way, depending on the market a business is in.

We've created a protectionism guide dedicated to automotive and manufacturing. The report includes:

  • A global picture of protectionism in G20 countries
  • Findings of research with 500 of the UK's CEOs and General Counsel
  • Expert insight from Mike Hawes, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders

Further insight into protectionism

Our research and commitment to supporting and guiding General Counsel and their businesses through protectionism will carry on throughout 2018.

We've spoken to experts from across key sectors such as property, life sciences, tech and energy and those able to talk about America's role in global protectionism. Over the coming months we'll be releasing more information. If you'd like to talk to anyone from Gowling WLG about this report, please contact Stuart Young.
