Digital forces driving the new protectionist agenda

Globally, protectionism is on the rise. We know this after conducting a study that shows the country's top economies have overseen an increase of more than 7,000 restrictive trade measures since 2009.

Protectionism is complex and can be positive or negative depending on the market a business is in. However, protectionism impacts any company that wishes to trade internationally, including those in the tech space.

That's why we've created a guide dedicated to tech and protectionism. The report includes:

  • A global picture of protectionism in G20 countries
  • Findings of research with 500 of the UK's CEOs and General Counsel
  • Expert insight from leading tech thinkers Daniel Castro from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and Susan Ariel Aaronson of the Elliott School of International Affairs.

Further insight into protectionism

Our research and commitment to supporting and guiding General Counsel and their businesses through protectionism will carry on throughout 2018.

Gowling WLG has spoken to experts across key sectors such as real estate, energy, life sciences, automotive, manufacturing and intellectual property (IP).
