Canada–U.S. trade talks intensify: Jacques J.M. Shore, C.M. weighs in on economic cooperation with CTV News
Speaking with CTV News in a segment that aired on July 12, Jacques J.M. Shore, C.M. shared his insights on the Canada–U.S. trade relationship amid heightened discussions around tariffs and supply chain integration.
In his remarks, Jacques emphasized the need for ongoing cooperation between the two economies. He pointed out the significance of longstanding manufacturing partnerships and the time required to resolve trade disagreements.
“35 per cent is something that, I think many would recognize is outrageous. But these are negotiations that are ongoing. Trade deals don’t take place overnight—they take a while to deal with,” said Shore.
“We make things together, and frankly, it’s incumbent we continue to recognize the importance in making things together. When our economy is strong, so is the U.S. economy. We need to find the right rhythm to make that work.”
