Gowling WLG is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Peter Milne on Thursday, December 4. He was surrounded by family.

Peter was a valued member of our firm for 26 years. After beginning his career in Toronto, he moved to Hamilton, where he became a leading figure in our Intellectual Property Group and a trusted mentor to many. He combined an engineer’s precision with a lawyer’s instincts, bringing exceptional insight, rigour, and care to his patent work and to every client matter he touched. 

Known for his warmth, humour, and generous spirit, Peter had a remarkable ability to bring people together and build community. He was always moved—and often a little surprised—by the positive impact he had on those around him, from his close colleagues in Hamilton to his clients and peers across the firm’s global offices.

Peter’s contributions to our firm and to the clients he served were significant, and his presence will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Peter’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
