Bio
Dr. Andrew Hutchison is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office. His primary interests lie in commercial transactions, banking, and real estate law.
Andrew completed his law degrees at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In Canada, he has received a Certificate of Qualification from the FLSC’s National Committee on Accreditation.
Prior to moving to Ontario, Andrew worked as a professor of commercial law at the University of Cape Town, teaching the LLB course on commercial transactions law. From a research point of view, Andrew was particularly interested in how commercial law translated into different cultures and contexts. For example, one of his key recent projects was on the governance and enforcement mechanisms adopted in unincorporated rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs) in Cape Town.
Andrew is thankful to Canada for graciously welcoming him. He is excited to start a new chapter in Hamilton, Ontario, and explore the law of another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
