Derek Varrin

Derek Varrin is an associate in the Business Law Group in Toronto. His practice focuses on corporate and securities law, with a particular emphasis on public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and capital markets transactions.

Derek completed his JD at Queen’s University, where he received the Queen’s Law Prize in Mergers and Acquisitions and the Heenan Blaikie LLP Scholarship. Before joining Gowling WLG, Derek interned at the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), where he researched and drafted salary arbitration briefs and rebuttal documents for NHL players to use in salary arbitration hearings.

During his undergraduate studies, Derek played on the Laurentian University men’s varsity hockey team for four years and was an Academic All-Canadian.
