Liz leads the firm's Aviation, Aerospace and Defence practice in the UK. She has 16 years' experience advising UK Government and Industry on high-profile international export deals, strategically important single-source and competitively procured projects across land, air and sea and also digital programmes. Liz also advises SMEs in the defence supply chain.
Liz has a strong working knowledge of the defence general contracting principles, including DEFCONs and the Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR). She advises on Qualifying Defence Contracts (QDCs), pricing and incentives, liability caps, force majeure, termination, contract closure liabilities and settlement agreements. Her work often involves collating multiple legacy arrangements into modern, consolidated contracts.
She is experienced in navigating multi-party negotiations and managing multiple concurrent contracts, regularly engaging with senior stakeholders and private sector contractors to find commercial solutions to complex and challenging matters.
Liz actively engages in the aerospace and defence market, including participation in established industry forums such as the Midland Aerospace Alliance – one of the largest aerospace clusters in Europe. The UK team is at the heart of the UK's manufacturing opportunities, hosting events at the firm's offices with representation across industry and the supply chain. Liz attends flagship events such as the Paris Air Show, Farnborough Air Show and DSEI, and hosts panel events and dinners around those events, ensuring her advice reflects current market practice, thought leadership, policy direction and regulatory scrutiny. This active participation in the sector means she is well placed to make connections and introductions for clients.
Expertise in Complex Outsourcing
Liz advises public authorities and private sector clients on large-scale outsourcing arrangements – from initial procurement through to contract management, transition and exit. Her experience covers market engagement, procurement strategy, commercial structuring, sub-contractor flow-down, liability allocation and ongoing contract governance.
She is skilled at advising on strategic 'big picture' issues, identifying and mitigating risk, and supporting clients through government approvals processes. Liz has a particular talent for managing multi-party negotiations and navigating complex stakeholder environments to deliver successful outcomes.
Expertise in Infrastructure & PFI/PPP
Liz has a strong background in infrastructure projects, advising both public authorities and private sector clients on PFI/PPP transactions and complex outsourcing arrangements. She has excellent organisational skills and strong experience of managing complex contract completions.
Her infrastructure experience spans highways, street lighting, leisure, fire and rescue, healthcare and transport. She helps clients to structure their projects in a way that minimises risk and achieves their objectives – whether that is cost saving, acquiring services or transferring risk.
Liz also advises on complex transitions, change and closure planning.
