
Bio
Elora Deering is a summer law student in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region Office. She is working towards her JD and BCL degrees at McGill University in Montreal.
Elora is passionate about advocacy in all its forms. She volunteered as a Student Advocate with the McGill Legal Information Clinic and recently received an honorable mention for Best Oralist at the 32nd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria, where her team placed 2nd out of 384 teams.
Prior to law school, Elora worked in various co-op positions while earning her BASc in Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She gained experience in a variety of companies, including at a startup in the Communitech Hub, and at an established Waterloo business. Elora also has an insight into the federal legislative process, as she worked for a year as a House of Commons Page. Elora enjoys problem-solving, and her diverse experience allows her to see new challenges from many angles.
Outside of the office, Elora enjoys playing board games and dabbling in music and sports.
