Louise is a Knowledge Lawyer. With a background in commercial litigation, she specialises in data protection, data and cyber security and has a special interest in tech-related sectors.
Accustomed to taking a multi-disciplinary approach, Louise works across both the Dispute Resolution Group and the Commercial, IT and Outsourcing Group. She delivers know-how, current awareness, updates and training, and develops knowledge resources. She leads on technical research into knottier issues and writes articles and alerts covering latest developments and trends. Her work strengthens the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Gowling WLG's legal advice, helping to maximise the teams' productivity.
Louise previously trained and practised as an Associate in the dispute resolution team at a global US firm. Frequently in cross-border contexts, she acted on contractual disputes, product liability litigation, in Competition Appeal Tribunal proceedings (with gas metering at the core), and arbitrations.
She has strong experience in group litigation: She worked in the defence team for a corporate insured in the Employers Liability Policy Trigger litigation, which reached the Court of Appeal. She was part of the defence team in the Nottingham & Derbyshire Textile Industrial Deafness (test case) Litigation, defending historic employers, ultimately decided by the Supreme Court (Baker v Quantum Clothing Group Limited [2011] UKSC 17).
Louise has significant additional insight in the area of litigation funding.
A Modern Languages graduate, Louise enjoys connecting in French, Italian and German, and absorbing other cultures and legal systems.
