Maddi Thomas

Maddi Thomas is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Private Client Services group. Her primary goal is to assist clients with the preservation and growth of their wealth through strategic estate planning and tax optimization. In her role, Maddi is dedicated to addressing each client’s unique needs and concerns, ensuring a personalized and comprehensive approach to their financial well-being.
With a particular interest in Wills and Estates under the Indian Act, Maddi has authored several articles and a textbook chapter on the subject. She has also delivered several presentations on this topic at the Estate Planning Council of London and Osgoode Hall Law School in 2023.
Maddi is a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), where she is working to complete her Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation.
She earned her law degree at the University of Toronto, where she was an active member of the legal community. In addition to being a member of the Student’s Law Society, Maddi worked for several legal aid organizations, including Downtown Legal Services, Neighborhood Legal Services, and Pro Bono Students Canada. Prior to her legal studies, Maddi completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University.
Maddi grew up in Vancouver close to the mountains and is an avid hiker and skier. In her spare time, she loves to travel, bake and explore Toronto’s vibrant restaurant scene.
