Michael J Luckman

Michael Luckman is a partner of many years standing and is currently the firm's General Counsel.

Michael started his career as an intellectual property lawyer. He covered both the contentious and non-contentious side of the work, working mainly in the life sciences, technology, and brands sectors. He subsequently joined the firm's UK Board, running initially the Finance, Projects, and Technology Group, then the Corporate and Finance Group, and finally the Commercial, Employment, Pensions, and Projects Group. After fourteen years, he stepped down as an executive Board member but continues to sit in on Board meetings in his current role as General Counsel. Separately, he is leading the firm's relationship with Government under the Crown Commercial Services Legal Services Panel and the firm's role as Official Legal Advisers to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. He also sits on the Board of the firm's Paris office as an internal appointment.

Michael is by nature an enthusiastic and positive leader. He aims to create an environment where his teams are motivated, allowed to be creative, challenged to give their best, and valued for their contributions. He always aims to provide sound and fair judgements and advice on issues and applies emotional intelligence and experience to deliver solutions that really work. In his General Counsel role, he is focused on creating a firm culture that puts ESG and compliance at its heart, to deliver both an outstanding client experience and a highly professional organisation.
