Valerie Sedlezky

Valerie Sedlezky is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Private Client Services Group in Toronto.

Valerie has practised exclusively in charity and non profit law since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2023. In her practice, Valerie works with a diverse range of clients, including public and private foundations, charitable organizations and nonprofits, both in Canada and internationally. She serves clients in a broad range of sectors, including health, long-term care, education, religion, recreation, community and social services, and industry associations.

Valerie regularly assists clients with matters arising at various stages of the charity and non-profit lifecycle, ranging from incorporation and obtaining and maintaining charitable registration to governance matters, directors’ and officers’ duties, director and member disputes, mergers, and dissolutions. She also advises clients on regulatory compliance and risk management matters, including activities abroad, charitable gifting, fundraising, conflicts of interest, and investments. Valerie takes a practical, solutions-oriented approach, helping clients navigate complex legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks while advancing their goals and impact.
