F. John Durdan

John Durdan is a partner in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office and a member of the firm's Tech Group. His practice is divided between securities matters and technology law matters.

His technology law practice focuses on advising technology companies on their licensing and distribution arrangements, including SAAS/cloud arrangements, development agreements, VAR and other reseller agreements, joint ventures and outsourcing. John also advises non-tech clients on their information technology licensing and outsourcing arrangements.

In addition to his technology practice, John advises on securities law matters and has extensive experience in public equity financings, private equity and debt financings, stock option plans, mergers and acquisitions - including domestic, international and U.S.-Canada cross-border transactions - and bank operating and term loans.

Before embarking on his legal career, John was an investment banker with a global investment bank in Toronto.

John is a board member and a member of the executive committee of THEMUSEUM of Idea Transcending Objects.

John was involved in the drafting of a report to the Standing Senate Committee on Bank, Trade and Commerce which focused on the Transaction Costs of a Decentralized System of Securities Regulation, and assisted in editing "Rowley & Baker International Mergers: The Antitrust Process", a text which describes the antitrust regimes in 29 distinct countries.
