Kavi Sivasothy

Kavi Sivasothy is an associate practicing within the Advocacy Group of the Toronto office. His practice includes commercial and class action litigation, cybersecurity breach coaching, privacy-related advisory work and anti-money laundering compliance auditing.

He assisted and advised on multiple cybersecurity crisis response events, including instances involving large corporations and institutions – assisting with issues ranging from asset recovery to threat-actor identification and negotiation. Kavi also regularly advises large corporations on privacy-related issues, including new developments in the law. Kavi recently completed Osgoode's Certificate in Privacy and Cybersecurity Law, and has sat on several panels discussing privacy-related issues in Canada.

In his litigation practice, Kavi has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, and worked on large class-actions dealing with issues ranging from product liability to data breaches. He has represented clients in Canada, the United States and Europe.  

Kavi completed his JD at the University of Ottawa, where he graduated magna cum laude. During his education, he focused on privacy-related course- and research-work, including a research assistant position with Professor Michael Geist, one of the pre-eminent academics on privacy issues in Canada.
