Gowling WLG's Munich office welcomes IP partner Thomas Mayer

International law firm Gowling WLG has appointed Thomas Mayer as a partner in its Munich office.

Thomas joins from Maiwald in Munich, where he was an intellectual property (IP) partner and one of the firm's managing directors. He brings significant additional experience to Gowling WLG's growing IP team in Germany, with his appointment coming at a time when substantial new work is being generated by the IP team around the world.

Thomas says: "I am very much looking forward to joining Gowling WLG's award-winning IP team. I am committed to further developing the IP practice in Munich, to strengthening our existing client relationships, winning new clients, and providing them with outstanding service."

Thomas's primary focus is patent litigation, across a broad range of technologies.  He also has particular experience of handling cases involving employees' inventions, as well as designs and unfair competition.

Gordon Harris, Gowling WLG's Co-head of IP, says: "We are delighted to welcome Thomas to our team.  His appointment adds another strong IP partner to our world-leading IP practice, and is the next step in our ambitious plans for our business in Germany. Thomas is both a renowned IP litigator as well as the sort of team player our internationally connected IP practice needs."
