Gowling WLG (UK) LLP announces incoming Chair

International law firm Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that Andy Stylianou will become the UK LLP's new Chair - effective from May 2020.

The appointment follows the decision of the firm's current Chair, Andrew Witts, to return to his fraud and asset recovery practice full-time in spring 2020. This builds on Andrew's close involvement in Gowling WLG's recent Latin America launch in São Paulo, Brazil and strong growth for the firm's international fraud and disputes team.

Andrew said: "It's been a privilege to be Chair and to be part of the transformation that has taken us to the thriving international firm we are today. I'm confident there will be more success to come - and I will be offering Andy my full support."

The incoming Chair Andy Stylianou is a long-standing Corporate M&A / Private Equity partner - leading the firm's London team - with a range of national and international clients.

He is currently chair of the UK partnership's Representative Council, through which he has already worked closely with the Executive Board in areas such as talent management and diversity and inclusion. He was a founding member of the firm's Diversity Forum and is a mental health champion.

Andy said: "It's an exciting new role for me - and we're very ambitious about where the firm is headed. We've always been famous for our people, our culture and going above and beyond for clients - and we're now competing on a much bigger international scale. I'll be spending time with people across the firm and our clients around the world, so that we stay ahead of the pack."

UK Chief Executive David Fennell commented: "Andrew has been a huge part of the firm's success - and there's no one who has put in more travel by planes, trains and automobiles to be there for our clients and our people. Andy is very much in the same mould. We've known each other for a long time - and he's a great ambassador for everything we stand for. I'm looking forward to working with him to deliver our strategy for growth in the UK and globally."
