The First IP Russia Awards

04 décembre 2019

Gowling WLG was pleased to play a key role in the first IP Awards ceremony in Russia! The awards took place on Nov. 28 in Moscow.

These awards were jointly established by the organizer of the Forum on Intellectual Property, in cooperation with the Council for Intellectual Property of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI of Russia), as well as the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP). This competition was held with the support of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).

These awards were different from other legal competitions that assess the activities of legal consulting firms. In this case, the nominees were non-consulting companies recognized for best practices in the intellectual property (IP) area. The main objective of the awards was to raise the profile of IP professionals in Russia and emphasize the public importance of their work.

A representative of our firm was invited to serve on the jury that reviewed the nominees' projects. Alexander Christophoroff and 15 judges graded the projects based on their originality and uniqueness, the amount of lawyers' time invested, the economic benefits, and the quantity of IP assets managed by the team, expert or company.

The Awards ceremony took place at a venue in the centre of Moscow. Our IP professionals Maria Aronikova, Marina Drel and Maria Stadnik represented Gowling WLG Russia/CIS and conveyed our firm's respect and appreciation to the award organizers.

Maria Aronikova presented the award to the winner of the Best Trademark Protection Strategy category, noting the need for greater awareness of IP law in Russia, especially in such a competitive capitalized world.
