Gowling WLG welcomes new finance partner

Gowling WLG has welcomed new partner Nath Curtis to its banking and finance team in London.

With more than 14 years' post-qualification experience, Nath specialises in complex, multi-source debt and equity investments into a wide range of sectors, but particularly energy and infrastructure assets. He has acted for clients investing in major domestic and international renewable assets and advised on the financing for rail, waste, oil & gas and data centre projects.

Before joining Gowling WLG, Nath was a partner at Burges Salmon and had previously worked at Clifford Chance.

Nath said: "The demand for and importance of decarbonisation of the economy alongside the deployment of private capital in the build-out of new social infrastructure has never been more pressing. I'm pleased to have joined the impressive banking and finance team at Gowling WLG, joining a team that I've worked with on many occasions over the years. I look forward to supporting the firm's energy and infrastructure practices as we build out a truly global practice in these key areas."

Chris Brierley, partner and head of banking and finance at Gowling WLG, said: "It's great to now have Nath on board. Our energy and infrastructure practice is going from strength to strength, and Nath is a fantastic addition to the team, with extensive transactional experience and a global network. His arrival is hugely important as we help our clients come through these extraordinary times."

Nath's appointment tops a standout year for the firm's energy team, which saw them work on several mandates including advising Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust on its IPO, which raised £350 million, advising Svea Renewable Solar AB on the acquisition of Solarcentury's European residential solar installation business and advising Co-op Energy on its new strategic partnership with Octopus Energy. It also follows the team's recognition for its leading energy and renewables practice in The Times Best Law Firms 2020.
