Gowling WLG Canada launches internal mental health & wellness program for all personnel

28 January 2021

Today, as the Bell Let's Talk campaign shines a light on mental health issues, Gowling WLG Canada is pleased to launch a new internal mental health and wellness program for everyone in the firm.

Called Passport to Wellness, the voluntary year-long program is designed to encourage all firm personnel – from staff and students to partners and associates – to prioritize their mental health by taking part in fun virtual wellness activities.

"Given our current reality, the Bell Let's Talk campaign surrounding mental health awareness, acceptance and action has never been more necessary," said Peter Lukasiewicz, CEO of Gowling WLG Canada. "The well-being of our people is paramount, and the Passport to Wellness program will allow us to be more proactive in taking care of ourselves – so that we can continue to overcome any obstacle together as a team."

Each month, the wellness program invites all Gowling WLG personnel to complete a wellness-related challenge based on a special theme. When a challenge is completed, a personalized digital wellness passport can be "stamped." At the end of the year, participants will be eligible to win one of several prizes.

The inaugural challenge for January asks everyone in the firm to take part in #BellLetsTalk and commit to the wellness program for the duration of the year.

Passport to Wellness is one component of Gowling WLG's extensive Our People First: Mental Health Strategy. With themes of awareness, resilience and empowerment, the strategy focuses on training and education, the development of coping skills, and fostering a culture of well-being in the workplace.
