Gemma Courtenay

Gemma Courtenay has wide ranging legal experience advising on a variety of real estate matters including:

  • land acquisitions (on a conditional and unconditional basis)
  • disposals (including auction sales and land exchanges)
  • turnkey and golden brick 's106' deals
  • residential and commercial leases
  • nomination agreements
  • infrastructure agreements
  • general property advice to clients on a wide range of matters, from boundary responsibility, to lease interpretation, through client helplines, and
  • licences, easements and wayleaves.

Gemma is also the Client Service Manager for two of our registered provider clients and is actively involved in the management of the firm's relationships with these clients.

Clients

Affordable housing providers including Sanctuary Housing Group, London and Quadrant, Metropolitan Housing Trust, Circle Group and Orbit Group.

Experience

  • Acting for an investor client in relation to its acquisition of a £14 million supported living property portfolio to help house homeless young adults.
  • Assisting a private housing provider client with its acquisition of a mixed-use development site in central London which will provide retail/commercial space in addition to over 200 residential apartments which will be let in the private rental sector.
  • Working with Sanctuary Housing Association and group companies to deliver its 2011-15 development programme, the largest programme in the sector, which resulted in a total of 5,000 new affordable homes.
  • Assisting an affordable housing provider on various aspects of its £19.5 million project to regenerate a town centre in Chester which will provide 62 new homes, a community centre, a library, a health facility and retail space.
  • Acting for various institutional investors involved in the acquisition and disposal of portfolios of supporting living facilities across the country.
