Olivia Nimmo

Olivia is a London-based associate in the Intellectual Property team. Olivia advises clients on how to best protect, enforce and exploit their intellectual property rights.

Olivia enjoys working across the full range of intellectual property rights, including high-tech SEP (FRAND) litigation as well as protection of clients' brands and designs, whether on smaller enforcement matters or in High Court litigation.

Olivia spent eight months of her training contract working in Gowling WLG's Dubai office. She predominantly worked in Intellectual Property, while also providing support to the Dubai office's Corporate and TMT teams.

In addition, as a Paralegal, Olivia spent six months working in Intellectual Property in Gowling WLG's Guangzhou office (while also providing ad hoc Corporate/Commercial support).

Olivia is also a member of the firm's Africa Group.

Experience

  • Acting for InterDigital in its complex Standard Essential Patents (SEP) and FRAND dispute with Lenovo.
  • Assisted the Gowling WLG team in advising a multinational e-commerce company on the terms of numerous marketing & promotions agreements covering multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assisted the Gowling WLG team representing Hexatronic in its High Court patent dispute with Emtelle.
  • Assisted the Gowling WLG team in relation to various actions enforcing the design rights of a leading consumer goods client.
  • Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Olivia spent over a year working in-house at a cyber security start-up, with responsibilities including drafting and negotiating non-disclosure agreements and re-seller agreements.
