Rachel Freeland

Rachel Freeland is an articling student in Gowling WLG's Ottawa Office.

Rachel obtained her JD at the University of Ottawa. During her studies, Rachel worked as a research assistant with the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, where she focused on artificial intelligence and regulation. She also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada for Reach Canada and was an assistant and associate editor for the Ottawa Law Review. In her second year, she completed an academic internship with the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic. In the summer of 2021, Rachel worked at CIBC in the Employee and Labour Relations Department.

Prior to entering law school, Rachel completed an honours bachelor of commerce at Queen's University Smith School of Business and spent a semester abroad studying at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a teaching assistant and in business development for technology startups.
