Rasan Sahota
Rasan Sahota is an articling student in Gowling WLG's Toronto office within the Intellectual Property Group. She earned her JD from Queen’s University.
In her second year, Rasan worked as a legal intern for the Department of Justice’s Natural Resources Canada Legal Services Unit researching domestic and international nuclear energy issues. At the same time, she was involved in the Queen’s International Trade Law Practicum for a research project on the implications of the WTO Appellate Body structure for a government beneficiary.
She is passionate about the confluence of technology and law. Recently, Rasan worked in the collaborative Conflicts Analytics Lab as a legal research analyst, where the team endeavoured to combine intellectual property law with artificial intelligence (AI).
Rasan has also worked with various Kingston organizations through her volunteer placements with Pro Bono Students Canada.
Prior to attending law school, Rasan completed an Honours Bachelor of Science double majoring in Biochemistry and Political Science at the University of Toronto. During her degree, she operated a 30- member executive team as president for the healthcare oriented organization, HOSA UTSC.
During the summer before entering law school, Rasan joined a team of student researchers to produce a report on the impacts of COVID-19 on young Ontarians, in which the team provided policy recommendations to the Government of Ontario. After publication, this project was selected in Canada’s Top 100 Recovery Projects (2021).
This year, Rasan drove 1900 kilometers through the Scottish Highlands on a road trip. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and cheering for her Formula 1 favourites.
