Travis Evens

Travis Evens is an associate in Gowling WLG's Hamilton office. He has a general corporate law practice and routinely advises clients on all matters of corporate and commercial law relevant to the entire life-cycle of a business, including incorporation and structuring, debt and equity financing, commercial agreement drafting, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. Travis also acts for major financial institutions on domestic, cross-border and syndicated commercial lending transactions and is a member of the firm's Nuclear Sector Practice Group.

Travis places a particular emphasis on advising international clients looking to do business in Canada by way of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, or the establishment of a Canadian subsidiary or branch office. Travis is a member of Gowling WLG's India and Japan country desks and has represented Gowling WLG as part of trade delegations to India with the City of Hamilton and the city's other key institutions.

Having completed a secondment with both a Canadian subsidiary of a multinational manufacturing company and a Canadian Schedule 1 bank, Travis has first-hand knowledge of the unique challenges and demands his clients face on a day-to-day basis and uses that knowledge to provide prompt and practical advice in a cost-effective manner.

Travis graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law with a Juris Doctor in 2016. During law school, he advised tenants on all matters of residential tenancy law at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic and provided summary legal advice to tenants at the Landlord and Tenant Board as acting Duty Counsel. Travis also received the Brown & Evans and Stikeman Elliott LLP prizes for achieving the highest standing in administrative law.

Travis is an active member of the board of directors of Sustainable Hamilton Burlington and is also a member of the Hamilton Law Association's New Lawyers Subcommittee.
