Seven Gowling WLG professionals have been named among the leading Canadian lawyers who serve clients in the cannabis industry in the inaugural issue of the Lexpert Special Edition: Agribusiness and Cannabis 2020.
In June 2018, Gowling WLG Canada launched its Cannabis Group, which delivers a comprehensive suite of legal services to cannabis companies and other businesses that support the sector.
As members of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, Gowling WLG's Lexpert-listed lawyers have acted for clients across a wide range of areas, including public listings, corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and product regulatory matters – as well as matters surrounding commercial leasing, construction and municipal law.
In addition to the rankings, Ottawa partner Lewis Retik was interviewed for a feature article in the guide on the topic of regulation in the cannabis market. As co-leader of the firm's national Cannabis Group, Retik applies his extensive experience in corporate commercial and regulatory law to help clients understand the complexities of the evolving laws with respect to cannabis in Canada.
Retik co-leads the practice group with Toronto partner Peter Simeon, who has been at the forefront acting on some of the leading transactions in the cannabis industry in the country.
