Elisa Scali

Elisa Scali is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She is a member of the firm's national Employment, Labour & Equalities (ELE) Practice Group and the leader of the Ottawa ELE team.

Elisa works closely with employers to assist them in achieving and maintaining compliance with employment laws and offers practical solutions to manage and minimize employment-related legal risks. She regularly provides advice to employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, including recruitment and background checks, employment agreements, incentive compensation plans, non-solicitation/non-competition agreements, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements, employee absenteeism and disability, human rights, workplace violence and harassment, employee policies, and discipline and dismissal.

In addition to employment law, Elisa also practices in the area of insurance defence, with a primary focus on disability and life insurance claims.

Elisa is experienced in mediation and assists our clients with dispute resolution. Our clients can also rely on Elisa to represent them resolutely in the defence of a legal proceeding. She has appeared as counsel at all levels of court within Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal.

Elisa also assists clients with investigations into workplace misconduct, including harassment, discrimination, and other policy violations. Elisa integrates her litigation expertise and extensive knowledge of employment law, to conduct impartial, thorough and legally sound investigations and deliver clear and concise reporting to our clients.
