Frédéric Lussier is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group, where he combines technical insight with strategic advocacy to help businesses protect and enforce their IP rights.
He represents clients in patent litigation across diverse sectors, including electronics, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and manufacturing, and regularly handles disputes involving trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Frédéric is particularly recognized for his expertise in complex and high-stakes damages claims, including claims for damages under the PM(NOC) Regulations.
Frédéric has successfully appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court and the Quebec Superior Court. Fully bilingual in English and French, he advocates seamlessly in both languages at trial and appellate levels.
Beyond litigation, Frédéric advises clients on IP protection and enforcement strategies and risk management. He regularly counsels on the IP implications across a broad range of commercial agreements, including licensing, technology transfers, distribution, and supply agreements. His strategic guidance helps clients maximize the value of their IP assets while mitigating potential risks.
With a background in electrical engineering and experience at leading Canadian technology companies, Frédéric brings a unique perspective that bridges law and technology, enabling him to craft arguments that resonate in court and align with business realities. His practice often involves collaborating with world-class experts in science, medicine, economics, and accounting to build compelling cases.
