As a lawyer, patent agent, and trademark agent, Jayde leverages deep experience in IP prosecution, portfolio management, and licensing to help clients protect, grow, leverage, and commercialize their IP assets at every stage of the business lifecycle. Organizations ranging from early-stage ventures to global enterprises rely on her comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and strategic approach to IP matters.
Jayde brings a business-first perspective to complex transactions and high-stakes matters. She leads IP due diligence and negotiates key provisions in complex life sciences, technology, and consumer deals. Known for precise, forward‑looking drafting, she structures and operationalizes IP in material transfer, collaboration, licensing, co‑development, research, IT, and services agreements. She also contributes to the CLEBC Due Diligence Deskbook on IP issues.
In her prosecution and portfolio management practice, Jayde advises local and multinational clients across patents, industrial designs, trademarks, and related rights. Her patent work centers on biotech, medical device, and food‑tech, leveraging her microbiology training, where she helps build and manage patent portfolios for life sciences and medical device companies and helps set industrial design strategy for consumer and technology products. On the trademark side, she helps oversee global portfolios, including for a provincial Crown corporation and one of Canada’s largest credit unions, covering clearance, filing, and enforcement.
Beyond her legal practice, Jayde is actively involved in bar associations, industry organizations, and her community. She serves as Vice Chair of the Life Sciences Committee of the Life Sciences Committee of the Licensing Executives Society International, Vice Chair of the International Trademark Association's Commercialization of Intellectual Property Committee, and Member-at-Large of the Canadian Bar Association National IP Law Section.
She holds law degrees from the University of British Columbia and UC Berkeley School of Law.
