Karen Pirie, KC

Karen Pirie, KC, is a partner and litigator in the Calgary office of Gowling WLG.

A senior advocacy lawyer with over 30 years of litigation experience, Karen practises primarily in the area of professional negligence, providing trusted litigation counsel to physicians, dentists, veterinarians and other health care professionals and representing these clients before the Alberta and federal courts.

Over the course of her career, Karen has appeared before all levels of the Alberta, as well as professional regulatory bodies, and handled applications for leave to appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada. She is routinely recognized as a leader in her field by The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and The Best Lawyers™ in Canada.

Karen complements her practice by teaching courses in advocacy to both law students and lawyers, and also conducting seminars for medical students, residents and physicians.

Outside of her practice, Karen remains active in her community. She is currently vice-chair of the Board of Calgary Alpha House Society, chair of Hockey Calgary, on the Board of Directors of North Point School for Boys and chair of the Board of Governors for Brentwood College School.
