Martin Lapner is a partner in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG, where he focuses on health law and privacy, with particular expertise in professional regulatory and civil liability matters, data governance, and AI regulation. He acts as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) and physicians, and also advises a broad range of healthcare sector organizations on privacy and regulatory matters.
In addition to his practice, Martin is an editor of the Electronic Healthcare Law Review (LexisNexis Canada) and a frequent contributor of articles on significant and emerging topics in health and privacy law, including the legal implications of artificial intelligence. He is also an instructor for the Osgoode Hall Law School LLM course on IT and Privacy in Healthcare, where he shares his insights on the evolving intersection of technology and healthcare regulation.
