Peter Anagnostou

Bio

Peter is a construction law specialist with over 13 years' experience advising global contractors, funders, engineers, consultants, developers and government bodies across the Middle East.

Peter has particular expertise advising clients during the life of a project as a problem solver and risk manager. He helps contractors and developers alike assess and present their claims to facilitate meaningful negotiations and has considerable experience as counsel in international arbitration, litigation and adjudication.

Peter has acted as counsel in arbitrations seated in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Singapore, Sydney, London, Paris, and Brussels, under various rules including ICC, SIAC, ACICA, DIAC, LCIA and DIFC-LCIA.

Peter is a thought leader and industry commentator for the Middle East construction industry and is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). He was previously a member of the Global Steering Committee for the CIArb Young Members Group, a member of the IBA Young Members Committee and Councillor of the Asia Pacific Forum for International Arbitration.

Peter is listed in Legal 500 as a Key Lawyer in Construction and Expert Guides as a Rising Star in Construction.

LCIA Arbitration – Acting for a US developer in a complex dispute relating to the construction of a shopping mall in Abu Dhabi with claims exceeding US$400 million.
ICC Arbitration – Acting for a Main Contractor in a claim for outstanding payments relating to the construction of a master plan development in Qatar with claims exceeding US$60 million.
DIAC Arbitration - Acting for a Main Contractor in a complex engineering dispute relating to the construction of a museum in Dubai with claims exceeding US$336 million.
DIAC Arbitration - Acting for a Main Contractor in a complex engineering dispute relating to the construction of a marquee recreational project in Dubai with claims exceeding US$326 million.
ICC Arbitration – Acting for Main Contractor in complex civil engineering claim against Subcontractor in relation to the construction of a prominent international airport for the sum of US$200 million.
ICC Arbitration – Acting for Main Contractor in complex civil engineering claim against Employer in relation to the construction of a prominent international airport for the sum of US$176 million.
ICC Arbitration - Acting for Main Contractor in dispute with Employer regarding claims for defective equipment in Qatar for the sum of US$50 million.
DIAC Arbitration - Advising a developer in relation to its claims against a main contractor relating to a master plan development in Dubai for the sum of US$30 million.
