Ben Hudson is a partner in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, where his practice encompasses tax, corporate and commercial law, and wills & estates.

He was called to the Alberta Bar in 2009 and began his legal journey at Gowling WLG as an associate, a role he held from 2011 to 2016. In 2016, Ben embarked on a new venture, successfully founding and managing a boutique law firm, before returning to Gowling WLG in 2023 as a partner.

Beyond being a lawyer, Ben stands as a trusted advisor in various aspects of business operations. His counsel spans across a wide array of areas, including acquisitions, contracts, shareholder agreements, corporate restructuring, tax reorganizations, family trusts, business sales, and succession and estate planning. His extensive client portfolio includes startups and small- to medium-sized enterprises across diverse industries, such as professional services, technology, software, construction and oilfield services. Clients appreciate his practical approach and his reliability, rooted in his experience of founding and managing several of his own businesses over the years.

Ben is deeply committed to the legal community. He has actively served on the CTF YP Steering Committee and held a former position on the CBA Tax Law Section executive. In addition to his legal contributions, Ben is a prolific author with several articles to his name. He's also a sought-after speaker for various legal and tax conferences, where he shares his knowledge with fellow professionals.

Outside the office, Ben's talents extend beyond law. He is an accomplished musician and a proud member of the winning band, Harvey and the Specters, from the 2019 Great Bar Band Battle competition in Calgary. Notably, this event isn't just about music but also raises funds for access to justice initiatives, reflecting Ben's commitment to the community.

With a dynamic blend of legal experience and personality, Ben is a true asset to both his clients, the community and the legal profession.
