Gowling WLG is pleased to announce Sean Sullivan as the next managing partner of its Waterloo Region office, effective Jan. 1, 2024.

A commercial litigator and past leader of the office's Advocacy Department, Sean has earned a strong reputation among peers, clients and Canada's top legal directories for his keen legal sensibility, deep understanding of the commercial landscape and personal approach to client service.

Outside of his practice, Sean devotes significant time and energy to his local community. He currently sits on the board of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, and previously served for 10 years as a trustee of the Waterloo Law Association. His past accolades include the Waterloo Region Record's "Top 40 Under 40" award and the Waterloo Region Police Services Civilian Award.

"As Waterloo continues to flourish, our local team has come to fully embrace its role in helping the region's businesses not only navigate legal risk, but also seize the opportunities vital to their success," said Sean. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to build upon this important work, all while exploring innovative new ways to play an ever larger role in our community."

Sean assumed the managing partner position from Bryce Kraeker, who concluded two four-year terms as managing partner at the end of last year. Over the course of his tenure, Bryce played a pivotal role in growing and diversifying Gowling WLG's office in Waterloo Region – including helping nearly double the size of the practice's legal complement and overseeing the team's move to a new state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Kitchener's Innovation District.
