Based in the Calgary office, Alexis Kennedy is Gowling WLG’s Conflicts Counsel and Head of the Conflicts Assessment and Matter Analysis Team (CAMAT).
With over 15 years of experience in assessing and advising on multijurisdictional conflicts, client intake and other compliance and risk management issues, Alexis has previously held similar roles in other international law firms, focusing on analyzing and resolving conflicts of interest, anti-money laundering due diligence, outside counsel guideline review, knowledge and records management, and new client/matter intake processes in big firm environments.
In addition to supervising the CAMAT and assisting firm lawyers and legal staff in navigating complex conflicts issues and new business intake processes and procedures, Alexis has played an integral role in developing and launching the firm’s new business intake and conflicts assessment workflow. She is also a senior member of the firm’s General Counsel team, chairs the firm’s Conflicts Committee meetings, and advises the committee members across all Canadian offices.
She is a licensed attorney in the United States and a barrister/solicitor in Canada.
