Areas of focus
Andrew Coates is an associate in the Toronto office of Gowling WLG, practising in the Private Client Services Group.
Andrew is developing a practice focused on trusts, estates, and succession planning. His interest in private client work stems from his time as the co-founder of a business in the seniors' care industry before attending Osgoode Hall Law School. Aside from revealing his natural affinity for people, this experience helped develop a skillset that is essential for the modern practice of law: an entrepreneurial spirit, identifying the client's true needs, presenting common sense solutions, and always providing a superior level of client service.
Andrew was the recipient of the 2019 Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) prize in Estate Planning at Osgoode Hall Law School.
He articled and began his legal career in the private client group of a regional Toronto firm, where he gained experience in the intersection between estates and family law.
