Jean-Loup Lalonde is an associate in Gowling WLG's Montreal office, practising in Indigenous law.
Jean-Loup holds a bachelor of civil law and a Juris Doctor (JD) in common law from Université de Montréal, in addition to a master of laws from McGill University.
During his studies, he was involved in several extracurricular initiatives. With a keen interest in politics and international relations, he formerly served as co-chair of the UN Simulation Committee. He also received the distinction of Best Delegate in recognition of his diplomacy skills at the Catalonia Model of United Nations in Barcelona, Spain.
While in law school, Jean-Loup travelled abroad to study Chinese law at the University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China.
He also interned with a judge of the Criminal and Penal Division of the Court of Québec during the 2018-2019 school year.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Jean-Loup worked at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada in Ottawa as a policy analyst for the Cabinet Affair Unit.
