Jessica Chen is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, practising in the firm's Advocacy Department. Her practice includes a broad range of commercial and civil litigation with a focus on insolvency and restructuring law as well as environmental law.
She has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal, along with various administrative tribunals. Her practice includes alternative dispute resolution methods and she has resolved numerous disputes through mediation and arbitration. She regularly volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario's Free Legal Advice Hotline and is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association and the Toronto Lawyer's Association.
Jessica completed her Canadian and American Juris Doctor Degrees at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy Law. During her legal studies, as part of the Criminal Law Clinic at Detroit Mercy Law, she successfully advocated for misdemeanor defendants in District Courts. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Social Science degree with a major in Political Science from the University of Ottawa. Prior to entering law school, Jessica worked for the Speaker of the Senate and Members of Parliament.
