Joey Suri

Joey Suri is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Montréal office working in the Business Law Group. He mainly focuses his practice on major infrastructure projects, construction, financial services, aviation, and government relations. With a strong track record in the infrastructure sector, Joey has played a key role in several major projects, including:
Joey was recognised in the 2024 and 2025 editions of Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch, in recognition of the quality of his practice in business law and infrastructure project financing.
Before joining Gowling WLG as a lawyer, Joey worked as a policy advisor and regional desk to the Minister of Canadian Heritage in Ottawa. As part of his duties, he advised the Minister on issues concerning Quebec, the awarding of grants to stakeholders, as well as on the national priorities of the government and their impact at the provincial level.
Within the firm, Joey plays an active role on the India Desk and has also served for several years on the Montréal office’s Student Recruitment Committee.
Joey is active in the legal community and has served for many years on the boards of directors of both the Young Bar of Montreal and the Bar of Montréal. He serves as a Governor of the Bar Foundation.
Since 2015, Joey holds a bachelor’s degree in civil law from the Université de Montréal. During his studies, he worked with Clinique juridique Juripop, a non-profit organisation whose chief mandate is to offer low-cost legal services, and with Pro Bono Students Canada, providing mentorship to secondary students. In 2023, he completed a short graduate programme in public and private sector management, jointly offered by HEC Montréal and the École nationale d’administration publique. He is multilingual, but practises law mainly in French and English, both written and verbal.
