Gowling WLG UAE recognised across three practice areas in Chambers Global 2023
The 2023 edition of Chambers Global Guide has recognised Gowling WLG's UAE teams across intellectual property, corporate/commercial contracts and an individual ranking for TMT.
The UAE IP team has progressed within the guide to Band 1, while Jon Parker, partner and head of the Middle East IP practice, has also been recognised as a Band 1 Individual Lawyer. This achievement follows a string of successes for the IP team, having been named Chambers Middle East Awards 'UAE IP Firm of the Year' in 2022 and shortlisted for the same award in 2023. The team has doubled in size in the past two years to meet demand from new and existing clients, while the return of Rachel Armstrong as partner in January further strengthens the team's capability.
Alexandre Brazeau, partner and head of the firm's Middle East technology practice, has been ranked as an 'Up and Coming' lawyer for TMT. Alexandre's recognition in the market continues to grow year on year. In 2022 he was named 'Rising Star of the Year' by the Middle East Legal awards and his team were named 'TMT Team of the Year' by the Legal Era Middle East Legal Awards. Alexandre continues to build a market leading technology practice with a particular focus advising on emerging technology across sectors including FinTech, life sciences, e-commerce, aviation and virtual assets.
Also recognised is the firm's corporate and commercial practice for the category of Corporate/Commercial & Commercial Contracts. Tim Casben, who leads the UAE corporate team, is highlighted as a Notable Practitioner.
