Darby Heino

Darby Heino is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office. She is a second-year law student at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Darby completed her first year of law school at the University of Windsor’s Dual Juris Doctor program before transferring to Osgoode Hall in 2021. As class president of the Student Bar Association in her first year, she successfully advocated for failsafe exams for the 1L class, and worked with her team to organize creative solutions for pandemic social events. In addition to her leadership positions, Darby was a caseworker at the Community Legal Aid Clinic, a volunteer researcher at Pro Bono Students Canada and an active participant in Windsor Law’s Mediation Arbitration Competition. Currently, she is a member of Osgoode Hall’s chess team and volunteers with the Law in Action Within Schools program, elevating students through innovative law and justice education.

Prior to law school, Darby obtained an honours bachelor of arts in political science and criminology from the University of Toronto. She also interned at the United States Consulate General and the United Nations Refugee Agency in Toronto.

In her spare time, Darby enjoys hiking with her two golden retrievers, watching competitive gymnastics and track and field, and visiting her family in the Middle East where she lived for 19 years.
