Gowling WLG welcomes new insolvency litigation partner
Gowling WLG has welcomed a new partner, Jason Freedman, to its commercial litigation team in London.
Jason specialises in insolvency litigation, with a particular focus on complex multi-jurisdictional fraud and asset recovery investigations. He also advises on litigation funding arrangements.
Over the last 15 years Jason has advised on several high profile fraud matters, working for English and foreign office-holders, as well as boards, individual directors and stakeholders at all levels. Prior to joining the firm Jason was a partner at Charles Russell Speechlys LLP
Most recently Jason was acting for the Joint Liquidators of Greensill Limited - a subsidiary of Greensill Capital UK Limited (in administration) - in relation to a US$600 million receivables programme. He was advising the Joint Liquidators in relation to claims of c. $440 million against certain companies within the Katerra group (all of which are in Chapter 11 in the US Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Texas, Houston Division), and leading a team in relation to document gathering and investigations.
Commenting on his appointment, Jason said: "I'm excited to have joined the team at Gowling WLG and taking on this new challenge. The firm has an extremely strong platform to grow its contentious and non-contentious insolvency practices and I'm looking forward to working closely with our global team and clients."
Davinia Gransbury, head of Dispute Resolution at Gowling WLG, added: "Jason has a wealth of experience and expertise advising stakeholders across multiple sectors on complex fraud and asset-tracing and strategic processes involved in contentious insolvency. He is an excellent addition to our partner team and will further strengthen our fraud and asset recovery advisory services, working closely alongside Andrew Witts, Catherine Naylor and Ian Weatherall."
