Delivering innovation, agility and certainty in an uncertain world: Meet us at the 2025 INTA Annual Meeting
It's been a decade since INTA was last in San Diego. Now, with more than 1,500 legal professionals, a significant presence in Canada, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, we're offering even greater worldwide reach and in-region know-how to our clients.
In those 10 years, the world has also undergone a complete transformation, and we continue to evolve with it. Through times of change, our team remains at the forefront of brand protection and enforcement in new and emerging industries, handing everything from innovations in generative AI, life sciences, tech, aviation, automation, social media, cybersecurity, to safeguarding the new and the novel.
More than 40 professionals from our global IP team will be at the 2025 INTA Annual Meeting—presenting, networking and collaborating to help tackle your critical challenges.
Counting the cost of counterfeits
The identification of copycat and counterfeit products, infringing websites and fake accounts on many of the world’s largest online marketplaces, social media platforms and search engines, pose a massive headache for global brands. In fact, counterfeiting is now the second biggest source of criminal income worldwide, after drugs and people trafficking, according to the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Some estimates suggest counterfeits account for up to 25 per cent of high-value goods’ sales, adding a sizeable contribution to the US$2 Trillion global counterfeit market, which spans everything from pharmaceuticals to entertainment products. In Europe alone, more than 86 million fake items valued at US$2.1bn and representing nearly 6 per cent of trade, were seized in 2022.

Adapting your trademark strategy under Québec’s new French language regulations
Upcoming amendments in Québec to the Charter of French Language are set to come into force at the beginning of June 2025. They have major implications for all trademark owners doing business across Canada. The compliance demands are already posing a challenge for many companies. All are being urged to ensure they are ready—well before the amendments come into force.
We're already guiding global clients through these changes—giving them clarity instead of guesswork. We're covering them across North America and the rest of the world, thanks to the spread of our global legal network of in-region talent.

Understanding the emerging geography of AI and its impact on the legal landscape
The global AI race is accelerating, bringing complex challenges given its vast reach and impact. As the technology advances, policy develops and regulation is debated, it will be interesting to see whether any international consensus emerges, or we are faced with a fractured, regional approach to the balance between developers, rights holders and the public interest.
Inevitably the debate will continue and it's one we will continue to be at the forefront of.
Look forward to seeing you in San Diego
