Robert Winogron is a partner in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG, practising in the Advocacy Department.
Robert is well-known across Canada for his legal experience in Indigenous and administrative law. He has extensive experience in Indigenous law, including specific claims legal and policy issues, research, submission, negotiation and litigation.
He is also experienced in Indigenous class action litigation. In this regard, Robert currently acts as lead counsel in a class proceeding regarding Indigenous day school litigation.
Robert comes to Gowling WLG from the federal Department of Justice, where he led a negotiation legal team of 12 professionals. He was also Canada's legal representative on the AFN/Canada Joint Task Force, which created the Specific Claims Tribunal. As a credit to Robert's leadership, the Task Force was hailed by both Indigenous leaders and the Prime Minister's Office as a great success.
